Elephant Ear ‘Stingray’ (Alocasia hybrid)
Resembling an aquatic stingray with a long pointed tail, this new and unusual alocasia adds a touch of the exotic to your garden or patio. The large, round green leaves have a long, thin green tail at the terminal end of each leaf. This unusual alocasia mutation is fast growing and can reach 5-6’ tall. Prefers a partially shady location with moist, fertile soil.

Light: Thrives best in well lit, bright conditions, however direct sunlight will scorch the leaves.

Water: Keep the compost moist with warm water. Do not allow the soil to dry out. Little and often is a good approach.

Temperature: Needs to be kept warm, ideally between 18-22°C.

Humidity: Needs a moist environment with above average humidity. Stand on a pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently. Pop it near the shower for a while to give it an occasional boost if required. Ideal in kitchens and bathrooms.

Care Tips: Alocasia have a dormant period where leaves will fade and die so do not be alarmed when this happens. During this period, the plants will require less water, so simply moisten the soil from time to time.

Height and Growth Rate: Ultimate height 1-1.2m. Alocasia are fast growing in the right conditions.

Toxicity: These plants are harmful if eaten and are a skin and eye irritant. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
