10" Boston Fern

$59.99

1. Light:  Ferns prefer bright, indirect light. They can tolerate some morning sun or filtered light but should be protected from direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch their leaves. Indoors, place them near a window with filtered light or provide artificial grow lights.

2. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Ferns prefer evenly moist soil and will suffer if allowed to dry out completely. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, and ensure that excess water can drain freely from the pot to prevent root rot.

3. Humidity: These ferns thrive in high humidity. Indoor environments can be dry, especially during winter months, so consider using a humidifier or misting the fronds regularly to maintain humidity levels around the plant.

4. Temperature:  Ferns prefer temperatures between 60-75°F (15-24°C). They are sensitive to cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C), so protect them from sudden temperature fluctuations and cold air.

5. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and pine bark or coconut coir works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from stagnating around the roots.

6. Fertilizing: Feed your  Fern with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce fertilization in fall and winter when growth slows down.

7. Pruning and Maintenance: Trim any yellow or dead fronds at the base of the plant as needed to maintain its appearance.  Ferns benefit from regular grooming to remove old fronds and encourage new growth.

8. Potting: Repot your  Fern every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its current pot. Choose a slightly larger pot with good drainage and refresh the potting mix to provide fresh nutrients.

9. Pests: Watch for common houseplant pests such as spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. Treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Ferns are prized for their lush, upright growth and are excellent choices for both indoor and outdoor spaces with the right care. By providing them with adequate light, water, humidity, and occasional feeding, you can enjoy healthy and vibrant ferns adding beauty to your environment.
