4" Philodendron Camposportoanum Velvet Shield

$39.99

1. Light: Provide bright, indirect light for your Philodendron. It prefers bright, filtered light but can tolerate medium light conditions. Avoid direct afternoon sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves and cause damage.

2. Watering: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Philodendrons prefer slightly moist soil, but overwatering can lead to root rot. Adjust watering frequency based on the season and environmental conditions—water more in spring and summer when growth is active, and reduce watering in fall and winter.

3. Humidity: Philodendron  thrives in moderate to high humidity. It can adapt to average indoor humidity levels but benefits from occasional misting or placement near a humidifier, especially in dry indoor environments.

4. Temperature: Normal room temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C) are ideal for Philodendron. It can tolerate slightly cooler temperatures but should be protected from drafts and sudden temperature fluctuations.

5. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mixture of peat moss, perlite, and orchid bark or sand works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water from accumulating at the bottom.

6. Fertilizing: Feed your Philodendron every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength. Reduce feeding in fall and winter when growth slows down.

7. Support: As Philodendron  matures, it may benefit from a support or moss pole to help it climb. This can encourage larger leaf development and maintain an upright growth habit.

8. Pruning: Remove any yellow or dead leaves as they appear to maintain the plant's health and appearance. Prune back leggy stems to promote bushier growth.

9. Propagation: Philodendron  can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take a cutting with at least one node and place it in water or directly in moist soil. Roots should develop within a few weeks.

10. Pests: Monitor for common houseplant pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids. Treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
