3" Croton 'Mammy' (Codiaeum variegatum)
Ignite your space with a dynamic explosion of tropical color and texture. Codiaeum variegatum 'Mammy' is one of the most eccentric and celebrated croton cultivars, famous for its thick, narrow, strap-like leaves that naturally twist, curl, and corkscrew as they grow upward. It offers an incredible, ever-changing palette of fiery hues—fresh foliage emerges in bright lime greens and sunny yellows before intensifying into deep crimson reds, burnt oranges, and near-black purples.
This petite 3-inch container size is an established, heavily rooted starter plant that packs massive visual energy into a compact footprint, making it a perfect accent for sunny windowsills, bright desks, or colorful terrariums.

Important Notes Before You Buy
⚠️ Juvenile Starter Plant Notice
This is a miniature starter plant in a 3-inch pot. It is a young, compact specimen in its early vegetative stage. While it is fully rooted and healthy, it has not yet achieved its dense, mature shrub form.
📸 Natural Color & Twist Variation
Croton coloration and leaf morphology depend entirely on age and light exposure. Every individual plant develops its own unique ratio of twists and colors. Your specimen will strictly match the 3-inch pot size and excellent health shown in our stock photo, but its individual color layout and leaf curls will be completely one-of-a-kind.
Quick Care Tips
-
Light: High, bright, indirect sunlight is an absolute requirement to maintain the intense red and yellow hues. A lack of light will cause new leaves to emerge solid green without the signature corkscrew coloration. It can even handle a few hours of direct morning sun.
-
Water: Keep the soil consistently, evenly moist but never waterlogged. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, and ensure excess water drains away completely. Crotons will dramatically droop their leaves when thirsty, but perk up quickly once hydrated.
-
Soil: Thrives in a rich, well-aerated, and fast-draining potting mix. A blend containing plenty of perlite and peat moss keeps the roots healthy and rot-free.
