Lithops (Living Stones) Care Guide
Light: Requires bright, direct sunlight. Place in a south-facing window or under grow lights.
Water: Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings, especially during the dormant period (summer).
Soil: Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C) during the active growth period. Protect from frost and cold drafts.
Humidity: Requires low humidity. Avoid misting as it can lead to rot.
Fertilizer: Minimal fertilizer needed. Use a diluted, balanced fertilizer once every few months during the growing season (spring and summer).
Pruning: Minimal pruning required; remove any dead or shriveled leaves gently.
Pests: Generally pest-free, but watch for signs of mealybugs and spider mites. Treat with insecticidal soap if necessary.
Notes: Lithops are adapted to arid conditions and mimic stones to avoid predation. They have unique watering needs and should not be overwatered to prevent rot.
