She wanted to depict the preciousness of shrinking glacial landscapes in this piece. It feels warm and cozy, despite being a cold place, which contributes to its precious nature - frozen landscapes don’t stick around for long in a warming world. Despite that hard truth, there is fleeting comfort in seeing this arctic landscape captured in perpetuity in this little snow globe.

The original was painted with acrylic, oil pastel, and colored pencil on St. Mary's Cotton.
